you might want to get a European plug converter if you are bringing any electronics with you such as a laptop
maybe an English to German dictionary

Jesse,
On your person you need to have your passport, and I’d recommend one other form of ID – like your drivers license. Also you’ll want your cash on your person. Have them in a secure place on you – not a loose back pocket. When I travel I wear pants with a pocket that buttons. And of course you’ll need to carry your ticket on you. In the winter I wear a jacket with an inside zipper pocket when I travel. I keep my tickets in there. Whatever you do – DON’T carry your tickets, passport, or money in your carry-on luggage. Keep them secure on you.
When it comes to carrying money – don’t carry a lot. There are ATMs all over Germany. I’d carry no more than $100.00.
You can’t travel with any container holding more that 2 oz of fluid – so if you have shampoo in your carry-on, it has to be in a small container.
I wouldn’t take much in the way of toiletries. Buy what you need in Germany. Shopping in Germany is like shopping in the US, and most Germans speak outstanding English.
Enjoy Germany. I’ve been there six times and always enjoyed it.
