    You can also take the train to Brindisi and from there a ferry to Patras and from there a bus to Athens. But you will be spending too much time and get tired. I prefer to fly. Check out airlines such as easyjet and aegeanair, they may have offers. Also olympicairways, of course!

    There are other options (trains + ferries) but it is more than 24 hours travel, and trust me, it is really stressful if you have never traveled by train and ferry for a long journey. I’ve done Greece – Italy countless times in both ways and it’s much better going by plane.
    A flight from Rome to Athens round trip it’s not going to cost more than 230€, and 150€ one way. Sometimes there are also offers, I went from Rome to Athens on April for just 99€ round trip!
