    You will need proof of citizenship for you and your son – this can be a birth certificate, passport, et al.

    They recently changed the law requiring all children under 17 to have a passport to get to Canada, so a birth certificate is all that is required for him.

    Canada doesn’t require permission papers for your son if you are not divorced – if you have a different last name than him, though, your son will probably be questioned as to who you are and why you are travelling.
