I went to France in August and there was never any mention of needing any kind of insurance. I think your agent may be trying to make a little more money.

I’m not sure if it is mandatory if you will only be traveling for a short time. My visa required it due to me being a student here. I was able to get insurance for around a dollar a day. I would suggest getting it if you are able to get similar rates.

    Good luck and have fun!

    No.
When you enter France nobody ever asks you about travel insurance and I’ve been going for over forty years.
Your travel agent is trying to make a profit out of you..
It is , however ,wise to have travel insurance but you can buy that independently on the internet and it is usually cheaper than buying from a travel agent

The only way you must have travel insurance is if you require a visa to enter France, otherwise you do not need any insurance. Most visitors do not buy insurance.
